Summer Tyme Newcombe was born May 28, 2006 and I adopted her seven weeks later on July 17.
The day I got Summer was one of the hottest days of the year and she was so tiny that on the ride home she laid crosswise on my truck's arm rest. On the way home we stopped at Petco in Auburn, Ma. for food and a coller and toys. I brought into the store with me, so, now every time we go to Petco she recognizes the store and has to go in.
From the moment we got home Summer followed my every step and when I want to come all I have to is to whistle and she will come running. The bond between us was immediate sort of like "super glue".
I bring Summer with me to a lot of the emergency calls with the fire department. In fact, she's been to more calls than some of the "active members".
Summer had her first ride in the sidecar when she was eight weeks old wearing the "leather" helmet that came off a Teddy Bear. Although, she is now too big to wear the helmet, during the riding season Summer will be wearing the goggles that Brandy had.
While Brandy was laid back and calm from day one, Summer is just the opposite, she is very enthusiastic
and curious about everything I do. Summer loves to play outside and I can leave her out alone and not worry too much because she stays near our house and will come when I whistle.
3-16-08. Summer is almost two years old now and weighs about 80 pounds and every day she has to have a nap in my lap while I sit in my recliner chair.
